In 1971 we begin the process of continued company growth by adding the capability of sanitary sewer construction. Our scope of work includes gravity sewer, pump stations and force mains. Our projects have consisted of various sizes and complexity. In the last few years we continued our growth by adding sewer rehabilitation projects to our scope of work.

In 1997 we purchased our first directional drilling machine for the purpose of installing HDPE directional drills for utility construction. Since then we have acquired additional machines to include a 7,000 lb and a 80,000lb pull back strengths. To maintain our strength in the horizontal drilling market we recently added a 40,000 llb machine. ABOUT

Herring Rivenbark, Inc. is a privately owned public utility construction company located in Kinston, NC. The company was started in 1949 by Mr. W. I. Herring Sr. and Mr. Marion V. Rivenbark for the primary purpose of constructing farm ponds and ditches by the means of a dragline machine. Mr. Rivenbark ran the business from a metal shop in his backyard until 1965 when the company moved to a small office building and shop located beside a tobacco warehouse across from Lenoir Community College. In 1958 Morris Rivenbark was hired to begin the business of constructing farm ditches by V-bucket methods along with installation of clay tile in farm fields. As the business of ditching and tile installation begin to diminish, Mr. M. V. Rivenbark obtained his public contractor's license in 1965 and begin to expand the company in to the world of water main installation. As the company continued is growth in the utility business, the addition of sanitary sewer crews were added in 1971 and in 1997 the company purchased it's first directional drilling machine. Mr. M.V. Rivenbark retired in 1986 selling a portion of his stock to Mr. Morris Rivenbark. Our current president, Mr. Douglas Smith, begin working with the company in 1969 and purchased Mr. Herring's stock in 1973, along with the remaining portion of stock owned by Mr. M.V. Rivenbark in 1986. Under new ownership the decision was made in 1995 to relocated to our current location. As the company continues to grow and change, Mr. Craig Neuhoff purchased a portion of stock in 2016.
